Bear with me for a moment—I’m about to get a little scientific, but I promise there’s a practical point! You may have heard of the second law of thermodynamics. In simple terms, it says that as time moves forward, the degree of disorder (or ‘chaos’) in any system will always increase. In other words, we’re always headed toward a little more chaos.
Sound familiar? I think most of us can relate. Life, especially these days, can feel like it’s constantly spinning toward disorder. And in our culture, we often try to fight this with quick fixes and trendy solutions—ironically, sometimes creating even more chaos in the process.
But here’s the good news: as humans, we do have the ability to slow down this drift toward chaos. By paying attention, making intentional choices, and practicing self-awareness, we can self-correct, repair, and learn new ways to manage the inevitable messiness of life. If chaos is a given, why not learn how to slow it down or navigate it in ways that are within our control?
This idea really resonates with me, because it’s exactly what I offer my clients—a chance to look at their own patterns and tendencies toward chaos, and to unwind them in a way that’s compassionate and non-judgmental. Together, we create new systems and set intentions that honor each person’s unique behaviors and beliefs, so that chaos becomes something we expect and manage, rather than something that overwhelms us.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably starting to regroup after the beautiful chaos of summer. Labor Day is the last hoorah before we tumble into the holiday season—a time that, for many, feels like a downward spiral into even more busyness.
So I have a few questions for you:
· What would it feel like to create a plan for yourself (or with a group of women) to build systems and practices that keep you grounded through the chaos of the holidays, which really start in October?
· What if you could move through the holidays without having to ‘start over’ in January—because your self-care practices and awareness kept you feeling like your best self, free from the shame, guilt, or judgment that so often creeps in by year’s end?
If this speaks to you, I invite you to visit my website and book a complimentary Momentum Builder Call. Let’s work together to help you take care of yourself—within the inevitable chaos!
